Auto plan fit

An opt-in option to be billed for the plan that fit each month, instead of the soft cap.

Auto plan fit is off by default. When you turn it on, Marginful bills you for the plan that fit each month you go above your growth allowance. In return, the soft cap never applies.

How the charge is calculated

After each month above your plan's growth allowance, Marginful creates one charge through Shopify:

Charge = Price of the smallest plan that covered the month − Your plan's price

It is never per order.

Example: a Starter store ($29) has 951 orders in September. Growth ($79) covers up to 2,400 orders. The charge is $79 − $29 = $50.

  • Founding Merchant prices are used if you are a Founding Merchant.
  • Annual plans use the monthly equivalent (annual price ÷ 12).
  • Pro has unlimited orders, so the plan that fits is never larger than Pro.

The monthly cap

Shopify requires a cap on usage charges. Yours is the Pro price minus your plan's price, per 30 days. Plan & Billing shows it before you approve.

Turn it on or off

Turn it on in Settings → Plan & Billing, or from the plan recommendation during setup. Approve the change on Shopify's page. Free, Starter, Growth and Scale stores can opt in.

Turning it off takes effect at once: no further charges are created.

While it is on, Plan & Billing shows the plan each recent month fit and its charge.
