Payment providers

Use real payment fees from Shopify Payments, PayPal and Stripe instead of estimates.

On this page

By default, Marginful estimates each order's payment fee from your fee rules. Connect a payment provider to use the fees you were really charged.

Supported providers

  • Shopify Payments: uses the read-only payout access granted at install.
  • PayPal: connect with a REST app client ID and secret.
  • Stripe: connect with a restricted API key that can only read your balance.

Fees are synced every 6 hours.

What changes when you connect

  • Each order uses its real fee, already net of fees returned on refunds.
  • Fees not tied to an order, such as payout, currency-conversion and account fees, appear as Other payment fees on the P&L.
  • Shopify's third-party transaction fee is still added for orders not paid with Shopify Payments, because Shopify bills it separately.
